Navigational Menus
Challenge: This might have started as a simple request—add blog articles, which guide guest purchasing decisions, to the website’s main menus. However, this project came after an accessibility audit and user-testing studies. User feedback highlighted concerns about the site's unfriendliness and lack of welcoming ambiance. The crowded menu overflowed on smaller screen sizes and there was a lack of visual balance and consistency. Users felt lost rather than guided.
Action: Armed with this feedback, my first step was to audit navigational systems. I started developing a holistic navigation system across all three main menus improving the information architecture, including imagery, and side sections for advice or upsells. Upon presenting the revamped designs, consensus was reached to revamp all dropdown menus.
Results
Despite the project expanding beyond its original scope, the new design elegantly addressed numerous issues. Since the redesigned menus, traffic to critical blog articles increased by 30%. Furthermore, following user testing revealed a significantly more positive perception of the site compared to prior evaluations.
